As I’m sure many of you have heard, the official White House TikTok page has taken up the hobby of posting despicable videos to popular songs.
One of the first in this social media rampage was a post by the White House in September to the Pokémon theme song, primarily emphasizing the popular catchphrase in the anime, “gotta catch ‘em all.”
The song was playing in the background of a video compilation of arrests and “attacks” by U.S. immigration or “ICE” agents. In this context, the phrase “gotta catch ‘em all” is referring to ICE agents having to catch and arrest illegal immigrants.
Obviously, this was a complete mockery of what America is supposed to be and stand for. It’s truly frightening just how quickly someone can make “comedic” posts out of such a horrific and heartbreaking situation, and it is truly a show of what this country has turned into under President Trump’s rule. Oh, I’m sorry, presidency.
America is a democracy, right? The Land of the Free? I digress.
Ultimately, Pokémon did not grant the White House permission to use their theme song in this controversial TikTok, and while the company published an initial statement condemning the use of their sound and the lack of permission granted, the post has not been taken down and remains on the TikTok page with a staggering 1.9 million likes.
But this is not the only case of the White House TikTok page showcasing cruel actions to popular songs. Another recent controversy was a post to the song “Juno” by Sabrina Carpenter on December 1st.
Carpenter, who had notably endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 election, openly spoke out against the use of her song in yet another post about ICE raids, noting that it’s “evil and disgusting,” and the sound on the post has since been removed. However, in retaliation, the page has uploaded another TikTok with an out-of-context SNL intro, featuring Sabrina Carpenter and Marcello Hernández, which, as of December 10th, remains up on the official TikTok page.
Another less notable example was the use of the “Stranger Things” theme song in a video promoting law and order, lower prices, and the “American Dream.” This video was uploaded on November 29th, 2025.
The caption of the post reads, “After 4 years in the Upside Down, President Trump has brought us back to reality.”
Currently, a recent post in the series of uploads, which makes a mockery out of ICE raids and torn apart families, is a post uploaded with the song “Big Boy” by SZA, primarily using the lyrics containing the phrase “it’s cuffing season.” In this post, once again, ICE agents are shown engaging in raids and arresting individuals. This post was uploaded on December 8th, 2025.
Obviously, these posts were not made with good intentions. Any sensible person can see that these are a direct mockery of the chaos that ICE has created with their deportations and raids. The vast majority of these people are innocent, being torn away from their families, and for some, the only home they’ve ever known.
There are children, hard workers, and elderly people all being treated cruelly and unfairly as they’re just trying to go about their lives. Not every person arrested has been undocumented, either.
There have been countless reports of legal immigrants, like those with a green card or student visa, who have been arrested, some pulled over, or ripped from their cars purely because of their skin color.
The fact that the White House has posted TikToks mocking such horrors really goes to show just the character of our government and is a testament to just where their morals lie.
This has to stop.
Just how far will they go until it ends, if it does at all? Not to mention that ICE agents are masked. If they’re so proud of the fight, why are they hiding?
But as I tie off this article, let me leave you with a few reminders. The first and arguably most important of which is that ICE agents need a warrant to enter and search private homes, businesses, or other property. Without a warrant, they would be committing an unlawful act should they enter.
If you are approached or detained, it’s important to use your voice. Ask to see a warrant, and remember you can refuse consent to search private areas.
It may be advised that, especially if you are a member of a minority targeted by ICE, you carry proper identification and documentation in case you are stopped or approached.
Remember that immigration officers are legally required to identify themselves and to state their authority.
At the end of the day, know your rights. Know that above all, you have the right to remain silent and the right to an attorney.
I urge all of you to read and understand your rights and, if you have the means, to help in your community however and whenever you can. This is a fight that we all must partake in. Regardless of your religion, race, ethnicity, culture, gender, or identity, we must come together in order to preserve our democracy, or what shards are left of it.
