My Halloween 2021 Costume Predictions

October 22, 2021

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays for one reason: costumes. Costumes are fun because they combine fashion and dressing up, social media, pop culture, and meme culture. All of my favorite things. That is why I am here to predict the most popular costumes for Halloween 2021.

Something to point out about Halloween 2021 is that we did not have a Halloween 2020, not really anyways. COVID-19 pretty much ruined Halloween for us last year. Most towns did not have trick-or-treating, there weren’t many parties or events happening, and if you’re like me, you didn’t even bother putting together a costume.

For this reason, Halloween 2021 is going to be big. While COVID is definitely still a thing, and precautions should be taken, there is still more freedom than this time last year. Bars are open, events are happening, and trick-or-treating is happening. Costumes will be happening.

So, here are my predictions for the most popular costumes this Halloween:

Squid Game: As I’m sure many of you have seen, this Netflix show has been trending A LOT recently. There will no doubt be lots of people dressed up in Squid Game costumes this Halloween. You can actually buy a Squid Game costume on Amazon.

Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox: Ah yes, the couple that everyone on the internet cannot stop talking about (see my last article as to why here). I already know this is going to be an extremely popular costume for couples and is honestly a pretty fun one to recreate.

Joe from You: With the third season dropping on Netflix this month, good ole Joe Goldberg will make a reappearance at Halloween parties. It’s an easy costume to put together, you just need a jacket and a baseball hat, so I am predicting this will be the #1 last-minute costume this year.

Red Flag: If you’ve been on Twitter in the past few weeks, you have seen the red flag Tweets. This could be another easy last-minute costume, wear all red, and there you go. Is dressing up as a red flag a red flag???

Barbie/Bratz/Fairy: Over the pandemic, the Barbie, Bratz, and fairy trinity have been a big TikTok trend. Apparently, everyone is one of the three. Personally, I’ve been told I’m a Polly Pocket, but that’s a story for another time. This could be another pretty easy costume, especially if you already dress like one of the three.

Berries and Cream: Berries and cream costumes will go one of two ways: people will either dress as the little lad himself or we will see a lot of berries and cream couples or group costumes. Either way, I’m looking forward to seeing a lot of dancing little lads at parties.

Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Throughout 2021, Miley has done a lot of talking and posting about her former alter ego, Hannah Montana. This costume has withstood time and will definitely be making a reappearance in 2021. 2021: the comeback of the bleach blonde wig.

Harry Styles: Who doesn’t love Harry Styles? This costume could be easy, fun, and a definite crowd pleaser, at least for the girls and the gays.

Kim K at the 2021 Met Gala: Throw a ski mask on and you’re Kim K at the 2021 Met Gala costume will be complete. I’m not even kidding with that one. All you need are black clothes and a ski mask and you will have put in as much effort as she did.

American Girl Dolls: For some reason, I’ve seen a lot about American Girl Dolls on social media lately. I’m not complaining though. This year there will definitely be some Kit Kittredges, some Julies, and everyone’s favorite horse girl, Felicity. Bonus points if you dress up as the “Body Book for Girls” cover.
