Last week, Millikin named Andrew Perry as the new head triathlon coach, taking over the program from longtime swim and triathlon head coach Molly Duesterhaus. Perry was the assistant triathlon coach last year, as well as the assistant coach for men’s and women’s swimming.

Perry went to the University of Kentucky, where he got his degree in electrical engineering. While there, he was president of the collegiate club program for triathlon, which he participated in and led recruitment for the team.

Before coming to Millikin, Perry was the assistant triathlon coach at Transylvania University. He helped lead them to a fourth place finish at the 2021 DIII triathlon national championships. He is a certified coach in triathlon and USA masters swimming.

In 2022, Perry was in charge of bike training and skills work, which was important to help the team finish third at nationals. As a triathlon athlete himself, he understands the demands that the sport requires. Coach Perry has said he is excited about this opportunity and optimistic about another podium finish at nationals next year.
