It has been a year since Donald Trump’s inauguration. What has he done while in office? 

On January 20th, 2025, the same day as his inauguration, Trump signed 26 executive orders. Within these executive orders was the elimination of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), which cut thousands of jobs. 

Another one of the executive orders that Trump signed on this day was to officially change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. 

Then, on National Girls and Women in Sports Day, an annual holiday that occurs on the first Wednesday in February, Trump signed an executive order called “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports,” which was put into place to prohibit transgender women from women’s sports.

On June 21st, the United States Air Force and Navy launched a plan called “Midnight Hammer,” which was set to destroy three nuclear facilities in Iran. This was a product of the war between Iran and Israel. This ultimately happened because Israel and the U.S. are allies. 

On July 4th, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act was signed, which has major impacts on federal taxes, credits, and deductions. This act provided many changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), adding more qualifications than before. 

Because of this act, people who are not legally citizens of the United States will no longer be able to receive SNAP benefits, and there are stricter work and age requirements, which will lead to people receiving fewer benefits, if they even still qualify. 

On September 22nd, Trump held a press conference and urged pregnant women not to take Tylenol, claiming that it causes autism. 

Then, on October 1st, the government was shut down, and that lasted until November 12th because of disagreements between the Republicans in the House of Representatives and the Democrats in the Senate. 

On October 20th, construction began on the East Wing of the White House in order to make room for Trump’s privately funded $300 ballroom. 

On November 12th, the last penny was printed due to it costing four cents for a one-cent coin. 

The Epstein files were supposed to be released on December 19th because of the Epstein Files Transparency Act, signed by President Trump, which required the U.S. Department of Justice to release all files. 

Although to this day they have still not been released. 

On January 3rd, 2026, the U.S. captured the president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, as well as his wife, Cilia Flores. The Trump administration claimed that they were just enforcing laws and that Maduro was being accused of drug allegations. 

Overall, Trump has raised tariffs this year, and customs duties have made the federal government $264 billion. Although this money was raised for the federal government, prices for food, gas, and housing have gone up. 

One of Trump’s main promises before coming into office was that he was going to implement the largest deportation in U.S. history. Since being in office, he kept his promise and expanded the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). 

There have been a total of over 2.6 million deportations since Trump became president. 

Trump kept many promises that he made during his presidential campaign, as he mainly focused on immigration, taxes, and national energy throughout his first year. 

In total, Trump has signed over 200 executive orders during his first year in the presidential chair. 

It has been a busy first year of Trump’s presidency, and there is a lot more he strives to do in the three years he has left.
