You heard it here, folks. Millikin University’s School of Theater and Dance (SOTAD) is back at it again with its performance of Kira Rockell’s play, “Holy Chicken Sandwich.”
Directed by Tom Pacio and co-produced by Millikin’s School of Theater and Dance, “Holy Chicken Sandwich” is a comedic mystery.
At the grand opening of a controversial fast-food chain restaurant, 100 people gather in the parking lot for an overnight campout in a contest to win a year of free combo meals. But as the night continues, it’s clear that something isn’t right. There’s a fox in the chicken coup, and Jade, the newly appointed store manager, must discover who it is before all hell breaks loose.
The student cast has spent the past weeks in rehearsals to bring this educational premiere of a play to Millikin’s stage, and now that time has come.
We can expect to see some familiar faces within the cast as well as some new talent. Gwendolynne Royle will play Jade; James Earlywine as Mr. True; Zachary Leclerc as Kevin; Max Cline as Drumstick; Gillian Elliott as Mother; Faithe Streily as Daughter; Emma Anderson as Wing; Julia Alexander as Tenderloin; Samuel Seymour as Thigh; Henry Ward as Gizzard; and Mason Natyshok as Chicken.
With a comedic mystery and even more comedic character names, how can you not expect a good time and a laugh-packed evening?
Additionally, Libby Eichorn and Asher Knauff will be featured as swings; Hannah Patton, Moss Tunary, and Leah Heim as stage managers and assistant stage managers; Aleah Frank and Ethan Rhoades as assistant directors; and Hunter Ward, Isabelle Cosette, and Ajay Davis as sound, costume, and lighting designers.
Unlike other SOTAD shows, these performances will take place at Millikin’s Pipe Dreams Studio Theater, located at 1099 W Wood Street in Decatur. Shows will perform on April 9th, 10th, and 11th at 7:30 p.m., as well as April 12th at 2:00 p.m.
You can purchase tickets for $25 at kirklandfinearts.com or by calling 217-424-6318. Otherwise, tickets can be purchased by Millikin students for free using their Millikin ID two hours prior to each performance.
Be sure to get your tickets so you can come out and support your wonderful fellow students in the cast and crew who worked tirelessly to bring this play to the stage, and join in on trying to discover just who the fox in the chicken coup is.
