Seeing White and Gold

Who knew the simple question “What color is this dress?” could split the internet in half. I, for one, never anticipated the feuds that would ensue when I was asked the question and gave the “wrong answer.” I am one of many who see white and gold when looking at the dress and refuse to argue what I see any further.

I am well aware that the original dress is black and blue, but with the magic of Photoshop and filters, what is really the truth anymore? Not this dress, that is for sure. But how can so many people see two different sets of colors for the same dress?

Some say it has to do with how we have handled traumatic events in our lives and whether we are completely over them. What I have been told, those who see white and gold are content with their lives, they are not stressed, and everything is wonderful! To those who see black and blue, everything in your lives is terrible, stressful, and nothing seems to be going right. While I do not want to speak for anyone, but as interesting as that concept is, I am finding it hard to believe so many people in the world are feeling pretty great right now. I know I am not feeling my greatest with the stress of papers and grades chilling on my shoulders.

So what is the big deal about this dress? Why can I see white and gold and others see black and blue? The world may never know. But to all the #whiteandgold2k15 believers, stay strong, my friends! We know what we see!
