Ah, There you are Millikin: M

This week, I wanted the “Ah, There you are Millikin,” column to focus on something that is unique to our campus. We’ve all seen the bronze ‘M’ in front Shilling, that darling class present from the graduating class of 2014.

We’ve also seen the small little plaque that tells Millikin students to rub the ‘M’ for good luck. Now, I am not particularly superstitious, so I don’t usually buy into the rabbit’s foot, lucky troll doll, lucky pair of underwear beliefs, so I personally find it rather amusing to see students rubbing the ‘M’.

Hey, to each their own, right? Now, I just find it hilarious to look across campus and see a poor soul wandering by the bronze ‘M’ and step out of their way to rub that ‘M’ for luck. Who am I to shoot anyone needing a little luck down? If you’re needing that extra umph from rubbing the bronze ‘M’ then good for you, you stepped off the path, looked a little foolish stroking the top of the ‘M’ and then carried right on with your day. Good for you, I hope you get the luck your rubbing for.
