When I was a kid I always, without fail, begged my parents for just ten more minutes of sleep when they tried to wake me up for school. That mentality seems to have stuck with me all the way to college, because just a few days ago, all I wanted was just one more week off before the new semester. I had so much TV to catch up on and so many movies to watch (I STILL haven’t seen Frozen). I had books to read and games to play and, in general, vegging out to do. How can I be expected to leave behind the comfort of my couch and go back to school?
A lot of people don’t share my sentiments. When I got back to Decatur and asked my roommate how her break was, her answer was “too long.” Clearly, vegging out isn’t for everyone. And I’m sure the seniors are ready to get their last semester out of the way. I was not feeling as enthusiastic about getting back to the grind of school. But as soon as I walked into my first class on Tuesday, any trepidation to get started washed away. I’m pumped. I’m looking forward creative writing. I’m looking forward to studying Jesus. I’m not looking forward to public speaking, but no one’s schedule is perfect.
I suppose I should start looking into acquiring my textbooks now.
