Millikin’s Big Blue Wrestling hosted the CCIW Championships at home, Griswold. this past Thursday, Feb. 13th. The men had four individual titles while Head Coach Ryan Birt was named the CCIW Coach of the Year.

Competing, there were eight teams, counting Millikin, and the men of the Big Blue showed out. Senior, Tristan Birt, at 157 pounds, won a title for the second time. Junior, Bradan Birt, at 165 pounds, won a title for the third straight time. Taylor McGiffen, junior at 174 pounds, brought home a title as well as Logan Haggerbaumer, junior at 197 pounds. 

Sophomore, Ren Dazey placed second at 133 pounds. Junior Frank Tomaskovic placed third at 285 pounds. Freshman Zac Blasioli placed third at 125 pounds. Peter McCusker placed fourth at 149 pounds. Wilyonde Bell placed sixth at 141 pounds. AJ Fox placed fourth at 184 pounds. 

Millikin’s Big Blue wrestlers all competed fiercely while none of them placed lower than sixth. Millikin edged out North Central College going 135-134 to take home the first ever team title in Big Blue Wrestling history.
