2019 Women’s Fall Tennis
The 2019 Women’s tennis team is looking to bounce back from a difficult 2018 campaign with a strong 2019 season, and so far, they are doing a great job of that. Following a season in which the team finished 6-13, it was important for this year’s team to begin the new season with a clean slate and improvement on their mind. Luckily for the team, they are carrying over a handful of players from last years team into this season and have an opportunity to continue to grow as a team.
Leading the way for the Millkin Women in the #1 Singles position is Senior Morgan Bettner who is looking to end her Millkin career on a high note. #2 Singles is being held down by Sophomore Shelby Jones and #3 Singles belongs to Freshman Brianna Barconi who is looking to help establish a winning culture with Millikin Women’s tennis. Junior Danielle Beard is playing #4 Singles while Junior Katie Cooper plays in the #5 Singles spot and Senior Alena Hinch rounds out the roster playing #6 Singles. Bettner and Jones are leading the way in the Doubles division with Barconi and Beard playing #2 Doubles and Cooper and Hinch playing #3 Doubles.
The team is already neck deep in the fall season and are already showing great signs of improvement from last years team. They are 2-2 in conference play so far this season in what is a very difficult CCIW conference for the Women as well. Currently sitting at a .500 record on the year, the team will be aiming to finish with a record over .500 for this fall season which would be a significant improvement from last year’s team, and a sign of great things to come for the program.
