PSA Start Supporting the Men’s Soccer Team
PSA! Go support the men’s soccer team! Their games usually fall on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Millikin offers a variety of different sports for students to watch and participate in. Many of these sports have already started their season, including men’s soccer. They most recently won against Fontbonne with a score of 3-0. Their goal for this season? To win conference this year.
The team has great motivation and lots of dedication to success. Before the school year even started, the men’s soccer team had many team-bonding activities and scrimmages to get ready for this season. Additionally, they also volunteered as a team at the Dennis Lab Elementary School.
The men’s soccer team is full of kind-hearted, hardworking men. They get up at 7 AM every morning for early training and running while also having practice at 7 to 11 at night, working tirelessly on passing and positioning.
There was also a huge recruiting class for this year’s soccer team, which means there is a first men’s soccer team and a reserved men’s soccer team.
“We have a really good team this year. We should be able to win most, if not all, games,” Henrik Kronborg, a freshman international Norwegian business management student, said. “The team gets along very well, and I’m excited for our conference play. Personally, I hope to help my team out to the best of my ability and give one hundred percent every time I step out on the field.”
Kronborg is a starter for the men’s soccer team. He plays center midfield and plays a key role on the team.
“When I first got here, I was anxious,” Jordan Cizek, a freshman entrepreneurship major, said. “However, I quickly bonded with most kids on the team, and I really enjoy playing with them day in and day out. A personal goal of mine is to always show up to games and practices with a positive attitude. I would also like to always outwork my opponent. My favorite memory is when the team got to get Chick-Fil-A after the game.”
Cizek is a defender for the team with offensive abilities.
“When I first got here, I wasn’t expecting to have the experience that I have had with the team,” Mitchell Garrett, a freshman exploratory studies major, said. “There are many people on the team that are great players as well as great people. I really want to see our team improve as a whole throughout the season and compete to the highest of our abilities. My personal goal is to better myself every time I go to training and support my team in any way possible.”
Garrett is a striker and a winger for the soccer. Additionally, Garrett said, “The hardest thing about being a college athlete is the time management.”
So please, if you have the time, I really recommend you go support men’s soccer. They work really hard and they would really appreciate it. The games are intense and have a great atmosphere.
The rest of the season is important to the team. The coaches have high expectations, and the team hopes to fulfill all their goals. So far, they have won three games. They hope to win more and would love for you all to be there cheering them on.
