Women’s Tennis Hosts the Dorothy McClure Tournament 9-5
Millikin began the day of September 5 by hosting the Dorothy McClure Tennis Tournament. The tournament dates back to 1917 and is believed to be the oldest collegiate tennis tournament for women in the country.
This year’s event included Millikin, the University of St. Francis, Rend Lake and Kaskaskia College.
The tournament featured six flights of singles play with each flight featuring round robin action.
Sophomore Melissa Donovan was 3-0 in the number five singles flight while senior Amber Morgan was undefeated at number six singles. Taylor Stanchin (freshman), Paige Bequette (junior), Molly Angell (sophomore) and Aubrie Sabin (junior) all went 2-1. Millikin finished the day with a 9-0 win over Illinois Valley Community College.
