Millikin Men’s Soccer in England
The Millikin Men’s Soccer team traveled to England, the place that started modern day soccer, at the beginning of August. Coach Chad Jones and the rest of the team began their trip in Manchester on August 9. The first place they visited was Britannia Stadium, where they saw Liverpool defeat Stoke City 1-0. Millikin then had a morning training session at Manchester University followed by an afternoon playing the Curzon Ashton Soccer Club. The day ended with a team dinner and a chance to experience the English culture.
On August 11, the team trained on the Astro Pitch at Manchester University and added a trip to the National Football Museum. The next day they took a tour at the Old Trafford Stadium. Millikin then played game against Airbus UK. On August 13, the Big Blue journeyed to Liverpool for a tour of Infield Stadium, later having a contest against Liverpool County FA. On the next day, Millikin toured the St. George Park National Football Centre. The soccer team then wrapped up their trip on August 14 with an outing to watch a pro soccer match following a training session. The soccer team is now back at campus and eager to start their season.
