Big Blue Football Loses to Carthage
Millikin started off strong Saturday November 1, while hosting Carthage College. However, they fell 28-22. Millikin opened the game as quarterback Nick Pippin hit Taylor Sanders on a 15 yd. pass. Carthage responded with their first possession scoring in four plays covering 60 yards. Nick Amzelmo connected with Marcus Hines on a 19 yard touchdown making it 7-6 Carthage at the end of the first quarter. Early in the second quarter Big Blue took the lead 12-7 on a 14 yard run by Justin Brooks. After stopping Carthage on their next possession, Millikin scored again on a 26 yard pass from Pippin to Brady Cufaude making it 19-7. Mykal Neal then intercepted Amzelmo setting up a 27 yard Chayce Volpert field goal bringing the score to 27-7. Carthage’s drive started at the Millikin 14 yard line and resulted in a 1 yard touchdown run by Anzelmo. The final score at half time was 22-14 Millikin. After the half, Millikin lost the fight and the resulting score was 28-22 Carthage. Senior running back Justin Brooks led the Millikin offense with 116 yards rushing. Pippin was 17-35-2 passing for 254 yards and two touchdowns. Cufaude led the Big Blue receivers with 119 yards. Matt Madrigal led Millikin’s defenders with 12 tackles. Millikin is now 2-6, 0-5.
