Millikin Volleyball Weekend Update

Millikin women’s volleyball team competed in four matches on the 19th and 20th of September.
On the 19th, Big Blue played at Elmhurst College Tournament in Elmhurst, IL. Millikin won against St. Benedict 3-2 in their first match. St. Benedict received the first set 25-20, but Millikin rallied and took set two 25-17. The Blazers then got set three 25-23 and had the lead until far along into the fourth set. Big Blue came back in the fourth set 26-24 and won in the fifth set 15-11. St. Benedict now have stats of 8-3. Audrey Krajec (Senior) had the Millikin lead with 10 digs, 21 kills, two blocks, and a .356 hitting percentage. Erin Syversen (Freshman) had 10 digs, 14 high, and three blocks with the team high. Jenna Hilgers (Freshman) had 11 digs, 50 set assists, and two blocks, while Christina Capuani (Freshman) had 11 digs and three service aces.

Millikin lost that same day to the University of Chicago 3-1. Millikin won the first set 25-19 but lost the following three sets 25-16, 25-19, and 22-15. After the win, the University of Chicago’s stats went to 11-4. Audrey Krajec (Senior) had 10 digs and 16 kills. Jade Becker (Senior) got 12 kills. Christina Capuani (Freshman) led Big Blue with an impressive 18 digs, and Geena Mancuso (Junior) got 15 digs. Erin Syversen (Freshman) had nine kills, 14 digs, two service aces, and two blocks.

On Saturday September 20th, Millikin won both of their matches in the second day of the Elmhurst Volleyball Invitational in Elmhurst, IL. Millikin won against Wisconsin-Platteville and Susquehanna. Their wins brought Head Coach Debbie Kiick to the top of the Millikin volleyball career coaching chart.

The match against Susquehanna (25-10, 25-16, 25-14) led Millikin with a 12 point win. Krajec had 20 kills, eight digs, four blocks, one service ace, and a .459 hitting percentage. Hilgers had 30 set assists. Syversen had nine digs and nine kills. Capuani had the team high of 10 digs. Geena Mancuso (Junior) had three aces as well.

The match against Wisconsin-Platteville ended in a Millikin win (25-14, 25-22, 25-20). Krajec led again with 13 kills, eight digs, three service aces, and a hitting percentage of .478. Becker had a .625 hitting percentage and six kills. Hilgers had a hitting percentage of .359 and 33 set assists.

Millikin advances to 13-3 this season.
