Millikin Women’s Volleyball Goes Undefeated
Big Blue volleyball has started the season undefeated, 4-0. On Aug. 29, the women were in Whitewater, Wis. for the Wisconsin-Whitewater Tournament. In the first game, senior Audrey Krajec led the Big Blue with an impressive 13 kills, 10 digs, and two service aces. Sophomore Emily Mihalkanin had eight set assists and two service aces. Freshman Christina Caupani had 12 digs and two service aces. In the second game, Big Blue was at it again, defeating the hosts of the tournament, the Warhawks 3-1. Karjec was still on fire with 21 kills, 11 digs, and three service aces. Capuani had 15 digs and five aces. Freshman Erin Syversen had 13 digs and three aces. Mihalknin had 40 set assists.
The tournament continued on Saturday, Aug. 30, with a win in game one over Grinnell 3-0. Head coach Debbie Kiick used this match to get as many as 20 different players on the court. Erin Syversen led with 13 kills, eight digs, and three service aces. Emily Mihalkanin had 20 set assists. In the second game Saturday, Millikin continued their winning streak with a 3-1 win over St. Norbert College. Audrey Krajec had 15 kills and 12 digs. Jade Becker had 10 kills and four blocks. Mihalkanin had six service aces and 41 assists. Christina Capuani had 22 digs and Geena Mancuso had 15 digs. Syversen had 11 kills and 10 digs.
Big Blue volleyball will defend their undefeated season again on Sept. 5 against Bethany College.
