At the Movies: Draft Day
4 out of 5 Stars
For this sports movie review, I wanted to review a sports movie that will be coming out in the near future. The movie under review is Draft Day. This film will be released Friday, Apr. 11. The director is Ivan Reitman and the film has a very famous cast list. The leading entertainers that are in this film are leading main man, Kevin Costner. He comes back into the spotlight after a little time out of media. Fellow cast members include Jennifer Garner, Frank Langella, Denis Leary, Chadwick Boseman and Sean Combs. Summit Entertainment brings a PG-13 thrilling sports movie to viewers who can see the behind the scenes working of what happens in the football world.
The storyline of the film follows the general manager of the Cleveland Browns, “who must fight to win the number one draft pick. “On the day of the NFL Draft, general manager Sonny Weaver (Kevin Costner) has the opportunity to save football in Cleveland when he trades for the number one pick. He must quickly decide what he’s willing to sacrifice in pursuit of perfection as the lines between his personal and professional life become blurred on a life-changing day for a few hundred young men with dreams of playing in the NFL” (movieinsider.com). This film is a comedy and is a movie to look forward to. I know that I am looking forward to it because of Kevin Coster and the storyline. It has been getting some great hype from numerous entertainment sources and those who love football.
I gave this film a 4 out of 5 stars before its release because I believe that it will live up to the hype. I know it is a typical come from behind sports film, but there are not too many football stories that follow this storyline. There has been The Blind Side and Moneyball, but nothing much about draft day specifically. It should be interesting, funny and a great overall film with great actors.
