The Millikin women’s tennis team defeated Monmouth College 8-1 on Sept. 12 at the Fairview Tennis Center in Decatur, Ill.
Millikin picked up singles wins by Paige Bequette 6-1, 6-1 over Julie Graf in the number one singles match. The Big Blue’s Meagan Booth defeated Jessica Witherell 7-6, 6-4. Millikin’s Paige Ehrat defeated Amanda Buck 6-4, 6-1. Millikin’s Erica Cornelius defeated Sarah Schmitt 6-4, 6-2 and Ryan Morgan downed Christine Peterson 6-4, 3-6, 10-8.
Katy Tolsky picked up a singles win for the Fighting Scots.
Millikin won all three doubles matches with Bequette and Amber Morgan defeating Monmouth’s Graf and Witherell 8-3. In number two doubles, the Big Blue’s Ryan Morgan and Booth won 9-7 over Tolsky and Buck. Cornelius and Ehrat won the number three doubles match 8-2 over Schmitt and Peterson.
The win was the first for Big Blue Head Coach Dustin Forman and another sign that Forman is on the right track in rebuilding the Big Blue women’s tennis program.
Millikin will travel to Illinois College in Jacksonville, Ill. on Sept. 19.
