Ewing Lecture Features Lindsey Pollak

Lindsey Pollak, one of the world’s top experts in training the Millennial generation for the competitive workplace, has been chosen by Millikin’s student senate to give this year’s Ewing lecture.

She’s known for empowering the Millennial generation to do their best, despite what the majority of the preceding generation thinks. Her lecture will prove to be interesting and inspiring for Millikin students, as they are a part of the generation she is knowledgeable about.

Pollak’s lecture is titled “2020 Vision: Trends Shaping the Future of Work.” She firmly believes that this generation has the power to change some of the disastrous problems that the workplace has today.

The Thomas W. Ewing Lectureship was created by the colleagues of Congressman Ewing – a 1957 Millikin graduate – and Millikin University. It was created to honor Ewing for his many years of dedication to public service. Past speakers have included Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., former House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert and former congressmen Jack Buechner.

Pollak has lectured on college campuses all over the nation, such as Yale, Harvard and Princeton, and even to several corporate offices like Ralph Lauren and IBM . By using her versatile speaking style, she has been able to bridge the gap between the generations in the workplace, helping to create a compromise that works for all ages.

She has numerous speeches at her disposal; the most popular among college campuses are entitled “Getting from College to Career,” “Becoming the Boss” and “The Social Media Job Search.” She’s quite popular on college campuses and has a way of speaking that can enrapture any audience.

However, Pollak is not giving one of those lectures. “2020 Vision: Trends Shaping the Future of Work” is a lecture more commonly given to corporate people, but it’s still seen as a useful speech for our generation. According to Pollak’s website, in this speech, she’s going to: shed light on what will shape the workplace that college students will enter when they graduate, show how to progressively make future based plans for business and show students how to stay flexible in the forever changing workplace.

It’s highly recommended for business majors to attend this lecture. Pollak will give Millikin’s campus an idea of the workplace they are entering, as well as giving them the tools to survive in it.

This lecture will be given on Wednesday, February 18 in Kirkland Fine Arts Center at 7 p.m., and it’s free to attend and open to the public. All who want to learn more about the changing workplace are welcome. After all, it’s not often that students are given the chance to listen to a New York Times bestselling author speak
