According to a report released by Reuters, a series of ten different air strikes have been carried out by the United States in order to slow down the progress of the Islamic State Group.
These most recent attacks have taken place in Kobani, Syria, and various locations in Iraq. The report goes on to state five strikes were carried out against each place. The report informs that nine different Islamic State Group bases and a building that they were using has now been destroyed.
The details of the damage carried out in Iraq are less informing, but it is reported that several vehicles and building believed to have been used by the militants have now been destroyed.
The Islamic State Group has been marked responsible for the death of 85 Iraqi tribe members; this latest slaughter has been an attempt to wear down those who are still resisting the group, according the Reuters report.
The report states that 85 members of the Albu Nimr tribe in Iraq have been killed. The chief of the tribe stated that the Islamic State group had killed 50 members as they fled the area in Anbar province, according to the report. Later some 35 additional bodies were said to have been found in a unmarked grave, bringing the total number up to 85.
This is more violence that has been carried out against tribes by the Islamic State group in their plan to wipe out the resistance and take land. The Albu Nimr tribe held out sometime before they had begun to run low on fuel, food, and ammunition, according to the report released by Reuters.
ABC reports that eight men have been convicted for same sex marriage in Egypt. This arrest, the report stated, came after the release of a video that depicted two men on boat getting married amongst friends. The Egyptian Court has been investigating this video since Sept. and have the eight men detained since then.
They have now made eight arrests in the case on the belief that their actions were “shameful to God” and “public morals,” according to a statement in the original ABC report. Their official charge is for “inciting debauchery.”
The report goes on comment on homosexuality in Egypt saying that the majority of the country is conservative Muslim with a Christian minority, and that homosexuality is something that is still something that is very much looked down upon in their culture.
The men who are charged with this crime of “inciting debauchery” have been sentenced to three years in prison each. This arrest follows a crack down in Egypt on homosexuality and atheism, according to the report. A series of arrests have been made over the past couple of years for these crimes of “inciting debauchery,” the report stated.
Boko Haram insurgents leader Abubakar Sheku has stated in a video that the missing 200 school girls have been married to group members according to the report put out by the Daily Times.
This report comes as news, now that leader has called off any sort of cease fire that was previously been called for, and now he had made it clear that girls will not be released to their families. The group did state that all captive members are alive and well according to the report.
According to a report released by the New York Times, after the fleeing of President Blaise Compaoré, two military officials have stepped up and tried to take power in Burkina Faso.
President Blaise Compaoré fled the country after 27 years of power when people began to revolt in the streets of his country. The two men, Gen. Honoré Nabéré Traoré and Lt. Col. Isaac Zida have both stepped up to take power. First Traoré and then Col. Zida. After a debate it has appeared that the backing has been put behind Col. Zida. Col. Zida has stated that the revolt of the people will not be “betrayed or disappointed,” according to a statement in the New York Times story.
