The Office of Inclusion and Student Engagement held the opening of Black History Month: The Art of Black Culture. The event began with a song performed by Phillip Armstrong and Erica Nwachukwu, followed by a historical presentation on Black History Month. The event included an open dinner and refreshments to everyone attending before moving on to a video on the Harlem Renaissance presented by Molly Berry. Terrence Hodge and Kameron Kimbrough performed song and slam poetry. The event ended with dance performances, including tap dancing by Time Brickey and modern dancing performed by Derraun Barbe and Fabricio Seraphin to celebrate African influence.
Dates to remember for Black History Month: Hair on February 12 at 7 pm in Lower RTUC, Grandma’s Greens on February 18 at 7 pm in LRTUC, Four Colored Girls Who Have Thought about Suicide in Albert Taylor Theater on February 21 at 7 pm, and the closing dinner on February 27 at 6 pm in LRTUC.
