Have you ever wanted to have your own Segway? No? Well what if I told you that you could have a Segway that makes you look cool. Interested? Good, then look no further than the MonoRover.

The MonoRover uses technology similar to a Segway but looks like a Hoverboard. It has a sleek design that looks like it belongs in “Back to the Future.” It can be purchased in two colors: black and white. On the front of the MonoRover are two blue lights that illuminate when in motion.

But how does this work? Well, much like the Segway the MonoRover has motion sensors built into the blue lights at the front of the board. However this technology has to be much more sensitive than the Segway because there’s no steering bar to lead the way or balance yourself. Much like a broom from Harry Potter, this board responds to the lightest of touches. The most subtle rocking of your weight to the balls of your feet makes this board shoot forward. Because of this, there’s a bit of a learning curve when trying to ride it for the first time. If you put too much weight in one direction you could topple over.

Learning curve aside, once the use of the MonoRover is mastered it rides so smoothly that, while it does have wheels, it feels as if you’re riding on air.

Unfortunately a product like this is naturally going to be on the more expensive side. A MonoRover costs right around 600 dollars. That’s a pretty penny to pay for a lazy skateboard. Still, the thought that something as novel as a hands-free Segway exists is enough.
