Netflix: Bill Nye the Science Guy
90’s Kids rejoice! You can now binge watch on the nostalgic Bill Nye the Science Guy on Netflix. The series was made available to stream on Netflix on May 18th. “Bill Nye the Science Guy” first aired on PBS Kids between 1993 and 1998. Currently, Netflix only offers 30 episodes of the show — out of 100 — available online.
Some of the Episodes include “Gravity,” “Digestion” and “Pollution Solutions.” It was a huge success in every child’s household. It ran from 1993-1998. Bill Nye made Saturday morning science and enjoyable. His TV persona made children think deeper about everything from Earth’s Crust, Sound and Forensics. Each half hour show was full of fun and iconic segments such as “Considering the Following” which discussed a certain topic that would make the viewer think about things in a different light.
You could also always expect unique experiments that would connect to the show’s theme. The experiments gave a visual demonstration for what Bill Nye was trying to explain in the episode. One of my favorite segments was the “Soundtrack of Science” that would parody popular songs and make the lyrics about different science topics. The show parodied songs from such artists such as Madonna, Aretha Franklin and Elvis.
Bill Nye is truly the “Science Guy” that he played on his show in real life. Nye plays a huge role in modern solar system debates such as the reclassification of Pluto as a dwarf planet. His passion is still in the science world as it was on the show.
Nye’s show is still fun and informative as it was 22 years ago! If you want some middle school nostalgia in your life than I would check out this 30-episode collection. And remember one last thing, Science Rules!
