Make It More Than A Summer Fling
Winter is coming, but that doesn’t mean that your romantic involvements have to freeze over.
There are lots of different ways to learn new things about each other and keep the candle of desire burning. It might feel like there isn’t much to do in Decatur, but you might be surprised at the opportunities that are available for a loving couple.
- 1. Before it gets too cold, pack a thermos full of hot chocolate and a blanket and head over to Fairview Park. Spend an afternoon watching the ducks, playing tennis or meandering down the paths. If you’re feeling competitive, make up an “I Spy” list and see who can complete theirs the quickest. Bring a camera to document all the things you find and the fun time you have.
- There are plenty of thrift stores in Decatur; have you explored them all? Take your significant other on a tour of the local thrift store. Make a game of it by buying a gift for each other at one of them – the most ridiculous wins! (And who wouldn’t want that hand knitted cats playing poker sweater?)
- Rock Springs is close by and offers a variety of adventures for the wild at heart. Once the snow begins to fall you can rent cross-country skis or you can get out before the real cold comes and hike around. Rock Springs also offers a variety of classes and seminars that are fun to sit in. Find a topic that interests you both like Native American history, or an event like candle light tours of an 1860’s home, and put it in the calendar!
- Did you know you can use your student ID to get discounts on fitness classes offered at the DISC? The couple that sweats together stays together! Take some time to look through the catalogue of offered classes and find one that you would enjoy doing together. Will it be Zumba? Yoga? Something totally new? It’s up to you. As you get in shape together, the attraction between the two of you will certainly grow.
- If you’re getting sick of pizza and Netflix nights, but all you want to do is watch Netflix and eat pizza, there is a simple way of spicing it up. Search for films in a foreign language- and leave those subtitles off! You and your partner will have a blast trying to figure out the plot and coming up with your understanding of the characters. Choose a film with a low rating to add extra confusion and fun.
Don’t let the gray and cold weather become a reflection of your relationship. Take steps to proactively plan nights for just the two of you. This forward thinking and planning of fun and unique date nights will surely leave your relationship stronger and more fulfilled.
