Bruno Mars

 

Peter Gene Hernandez, most famously known as Bruno Mars, is an American singer-songwriter. He is also a multi-instrumentalist, record producer and a choreographer.

Mars was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. He came from a family full of musicians, which led him to making music at a young age.

Mars’ childhood consisted of performing at various musical venues. Once Mars’ graduated from high school, he moved out to Los Angeles, California to pursue a musical career.

2009 was a semi-big year for Mars. He signed with Atlantic Records after Motown records dropped him. He also co-founded The Smeezingtons which was the production team on the singles “Nothin’ on You” and “Billionaire.”

His featured vocals in these song’s hooks are what led to him being recognized as a solo artist.

In 2010, Mars debuted his studio album titled “Doo-Wops & Hooligans.”  International and U.S. Billboard Hot 100 number one singles “Just the Way You Are” and “Grenade” are featured on this album.

Mars’ career continued to take off, with his second album “Unorthodox Jukebox.”  This number one album in the U.S was released in 2012, with singles “Locked Out of Heaven” and “When I Was Your Man.” Those singles reached number one in the U.S while “Treasure” reached number five.

Skip two years forward, and Mars dropped the party hit “Uptown Funk.” This song featured English musician Mark Ronson. This single did well on the music charts worldwide, in countries like the U.S, Australia,Canada, New Zealand, and the UK.

“24K Magic” is Mars third studio album; released in 2016. This album received a total of seven Grammys. This album is said to be a follow up to his second studio album “Unorthodox Jukebox.”

The singles, “24K magic,” That’s What I Like” and “Finesse” are some of the most successful.

He has sold over 130 million records worldwide, this makes Bruno Mars one of the best-selling artist of all time.

Since Mars career launch in 2010, he has released seven number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100.

He attained his first five faster than any male artist since Elvis Presley. He has received many nominations and awards throughout his career. Those awards include 11 Grammy Awards, three Brit Awards, three Guinness World records.

In 2011, he was named Time’s 100 most influential people in the world. He ranked number one on Forbes 30 under 30 list in December 2013.

When one thinks of Bruno Mars, one instantly thinks about his amazing stage presence and his showmanship. Mars is known for his entertaining performances, he is truly an entertainer.

If you ever get a chance to see Mars in concert, know he is worth every cent. Between Mars and his band The Hooligans, you are guaranteed to have a great time.

The Hooligans not only dance along with Mars on stage but, play a variety of instruments. This instruments include, the electric guitar, the bass guitar, the piano, the drums and horns.

Overall, as an artist, Mars is one of my favorites. His music is respectable and current. I haven’t heard a bad song from Bruno yet. And I don’t think that is ever going to happen.

One can never go wrong when listening to any of Mars’ songs. 2010 Mars is just as good as 2016 Mars. He has a musicality that I really enjoy. That is more than I can say about most artist these days.
