2015-2016 Theatre Season

The Department of Theatre and Dance has a great lineup of shows for their 2015-2016 season. The semester starts off in September with the Departments rendition of Rough Magic.

Rough Magic
is a funny mashup of comic books and classic Shakespeare. Roberto Aquire-Sacasa who is famous for working on the television series Glee and the musical Spider-man: Turn off the Dark writes the play. Rough Magic is playing at Albert Taylor Theatre from September 30th to October 4th.

October also brings us A Nightmare on Backstreet put on by Pipe Dreams Theatre. Nightmare is a twist on the classic Nightmare on Elm Street Film

Series, but now it is being set to the chorography and music of the 90’s boy band the Backstreet Boys. This sounds like a show that all of the 90’s boy band fans can enjoy. Nightmare on Backstreet runs four weekends. The October weekends fall on 22-24, and 30-31 with midnight shows on Halloween. The second run of the show will be from November 5-7, and 13-15.

There will plenty of creepy and kooky spooks this semester when the Addams Family musical comes to KFAC in November. The Addams Family musical is a new musical comedy based on the characters of the cartoonist Charles Addams. Andrew Lippa, the writer of Addams Family, is famous for his work on musicals such as You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, The Wild Party and the recent Disney Channel movie Descendants. The Addams Family will be playing from November 13-15th in Kirkland Fine Arts Center.

Finally, the first semester lineup finishes off with their annual Solstice Dance Concert. Solstice is a dance show, which will feature a variety of dance styles. It will be sure to engage audiences of all ages.

The spring semester will bring shows such as The Magic Pinafore and the musical Little Shop of Horrors from the Theatre Department, and original shows such as The Last Smoker in America and What I Didn’t Learn in College from Pipe Dreams Theatre.
