According to BBC online, the remains of the Spanish author Miguel de Cervantes have been located in a tomb in Madrid’s Convent of the Barefoot Trinitarians, the report stated. Miguel Cervantes was born in Madrid in 1547, and died in 1616 a year after publishing the second half of his novel.

Miguel de Cervantes is famous for his grand novel, Don Quixote. Cervantes was buried at the convent in 1616, according to the report and records from the convent. However, the report goes on to state that the body of Cervantes was moved in the 17 century when the convent went under renovations, but due to poor records the location of the body was lost. With the aid of modern technology, the forensic scientists were able to locate the bodies of the those who were buried with Cervantes, unfortunately the report does state that the body was very poorly preserved and the only way of telling if the remains they have are Cervantes is by testing the other remains to prove find which ones are not a match. With the records of whose grave was moved with Cervantes, the bodies of which were in a much better state, are able to be identified. The report concludes by saying that Cervantes’ body will be returned to the convent where he wished to be buried, and the tomb will be open for public viewing next year, which the report states will coincide with the four hundred year anniversary of his death.
