It’s that time of year again! The Rocky Horror Shadow Show is coming back to The Avon again, and will be even better than ever. For those of you that do not know what Rocky Horror is, now would be a great time to learn.

“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” is an iconic film from the 1970s that is considered to be a cult classic. However, you don’t need to know the movie to have a great time at the shadow show.

Coy Branscum, one of the actors in the shadow show, said, “If you know the story you will have a good time, but if not, come with an open mind.”

This show insists on people allowing themselves to be goofy, weird and sometimes singled out. Most of you probably know part of the show even if you haven’t experienced it. This would be because of the film’s popular song “Time Warp.” Many people know this song and dance long before watching the film or attending a shadow show, so it is not as difficult to join in the fun.

The shadow shows are what Rocky Horror is best known for. These shows can be described as overwhelming madness, but in the best possible way. People will be dressed up, yelling lines at the screen, throwing props, dancing and more. The whole show is filled with nonstop action. On top of all of this is the shadow cast on stage. Rehearsals have been going on for a while now and the cast promises this year the show will be even better than last year. There is a lot more attention to detail for the shadow cast, from portraying the on-screen actors perfectly to having better makeup. Also, don’t forget they will all be dressed in crazy outfits that include heels.

However, this is just the participation and the actors during the show. Before the show even starts there are the virgin games. Most people considering going to the show have heard of these games and might be considering not going just because of them; the shadow cast encourages everyone to reconsider. They are not evil or going to make people that have not been to a shadow show participate in the virgin games. All they ask is that people come, have a good time and step out of their comfort zones for a night. The cast does this to share an exciting experience with the audience. Besides, it is a great excuse to get off campus for a night.

For those that are going to this annual phenomenon, there is some important information to know. The shows will be at The Avon on Oct. 25 and 26, and there will be inexpensive prop bags sold before the show starts. These bags will be full of props that will help make the experience even more fun. All profits from these bags go to The Avon to help make this production happen every year. Tickets for the show are only 10 dollars, and they are already on sale. The doors for the show open at 11 pm with the virgin games starting at 11:30 pm. The show begins at 11:59 pm. All those involved in the shadow cast invite you to come as your favorite character, or as The Avon says, “Come as bare as you dare!”
