The men’s volleyball team started the week off for Millikin athletics. The men lost 0-3 to Concordia University Chicago at home on Sunday, Feb. 9. 

The men played at Aurora University later in the week on Thursday, Feb. 13. The men lost to Aurora 0-3. On Saturday, Feb. 15 the men’s volleyball team played two games at home, losing 0-3 the first game to North Central College. 

The second game was played against St. Norbert College. The men lost 1-3 to St. Norbert. The men are currently 1-10 overall and 0-1 in the conference. The men will compete at North Park University on Tuesday, Feb. 18. Game time is 7 p.m.

On Wednesday, Feb. 12, the women’s basketball team defeated rivals, Illinois Wesleyan University 75-71 at home. On Saturday, Feb. 15, the women scored another victory, beating Elmhurst College 82-62. The women are currently 15-8 overall and 8-6 in the conference. They will play North Park University at home on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m.

The wrestling team hosted the CCIW Championships on Thursday, Feb. 13. Millikin won the CCIW Championship title, the first team title in Millikin’s wrestling history. Head Coach Ryan Birt was named the CCIW Coach of the Year. 

The men won four individual titles by senior Tristan Birt, junior Bradan Birt, Taylor McGiffen, and Logan Hagerbaumer. 

This was Tristian Birt’s second title and Bradan Birt’s third straight title. Freshman Zach Blasioli also earned All-Conference honors with a third place finish. 

The men currently have a record of 18-7. The next competition is the NCAA Regionals in Dubuque, Iowa at the Five Flags Center. Regionals will be hosted on Saturday, Feb. 29 and Sunday, March 1.

On Saturday, Feb. 15, the men’s tennis team competed in the second match of the 2020 spring season. The men played two matches at Principia College. 

The first match, the men won 9-0 against Saint Louis College of Pharmacy. The men lost 3-6 to Principia College in the second match of the day. The men currently have a record of 1-3 overall and 0-0 in the conference. They will play against Prairie State College on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 10 a.m. in Hanover, Illinois.

The baseball team kicked off their season at Hendrix College in Conway, Arizona on Saturday, Feb. 15. The men lost both games to Hendrix College, losing 1-8 the first game and 7-8 the second game. The men are currently off to a 0-2 start overall. They will travel down to Jackson, Mississippi and compete against Southwestern University on Friday, Feb. 28. The game will start at 2 p.m.

The men’s basketball team lost to Elmhurst College 75-87 on Saturday, Feb. 15. The men have a record of 4-19 overall and 1-13 in the conference. They will play at Wheaton College on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m.
