The Future Is Now: Google Glasses

Stepping into the world of science fiction, there are a bunch of futuristic accessories that, while also being fashionable in their respective time periods, have bits of technology infused into their core. These include laser lipstick, computer bracelets and camera glasses. Google has not only started this process with one of these accessories, but has taken it to a whole new level. The Google Glass is a cutting edge piece of technology that can do so much that it’s astonishing. It’s hard to believe that so many things can be achieved by a device that attaches to your face.

Google Glass is a curved piece of metal that fits like glasses without bottom rims, and it has nose pads to keep it from falling off your face. On the left side there is a small camera attached with a small clear screen next to that. Other than that, there are no lenses on these glasses. You can even special order prescriptions that can be put on the glasses.

These glasses function as a mix between a smartphone and a laptop. As in most electronic devices, you can use Google Glass to tell the time. By simply saying “take picture” or “record video,” you can do just that, and completely hands free. You can even video chat with your friends, and they can see exactly what you see, which is pretty fascinating.

Also, with Google Glass, you will never have to worry about getting lost again. You can pull up directions to wherever you are going and see the map as you go there. You can also send a text message or an email without pressing a button or striking a key. Similar to Siri on the iPhone, you can ask Google Glass a question and you will get a search answer right there. Conveniently, you can translate foreign languages to make for easier communication in your travels.
