Artist Spotlight

Up and coming student artist Brooke Paddock is a very involved student here at Millikin University. She is involved in MilliStat, Up Til Dawn, Alpha Chi Omega, and Order of Omega. She has also interned at Millikin Alumni and Development, assisting in marketing and programs.

Brooke is a Bachelor of Arts Graphic Design Major and has a communication minor.   Currently she is focused on layout design for Millikin’s Premier Writers, which is one of the projects that Bronze’s Man Books is currently working on bringing to life in the spring. Brooke is a skilled photographer and has showcased some of her artwork at Kirkland as student pieces. Outside of Bronze Man Books, she also spends time at Blue Connection. Blue Connection is a student run art business located in downtown Decatur.

Reflecting back on her time at Millikin University, Brooke described her experience here at Millikin as a place where she was taught new skills to help increase her knowledge of Graphic Design along with being able to learn new ways to create art. You can see some of Brooke’s art work in organizational signs and advertisement for Millistat and Up Til’ Dawn, which Brooke serves as the Marketer for.

When asked about what inspires her, she said that her surroundings and other graphic designers are inspiration for her work. When asking other students to describe Brooke Paddock and her work ethic, students described her to be hardworking, diligent, creative, and passionate. Overall she has found that at Millikin she has grown in her field and with the help of her professors she has improved and learned more about Graphic design. She is currently working on many new things in a push to get ready to show her portfolio for potential jobs once she graduates in the spring.  On a normal day at Millikin you can find Brooke working on another piece of artwork either in the Mac Lab, Staley, or in her room at her computer or sketchpad.
