Pizza Hut or Dominos?

It’s Friday night, and you’re craving pizza. What’s your first thought? Most Millikin students will choose between either Dominos or Pizza Hut due to their proximity to campus and the fact that they deliver. But which is better? Which should you choose to satisfy your pizza cravings?

Freshman pizza fanatic Emily Nehls claims that Dominos is the better option. But why? She thinks Dominos is the better place to go when she really wants pizza because the crust tastes better. At Pizza Hut, in order to get garlic on the crust, she would have to make a special request which she does not like. At Dominos, it just comes that way automatically as long as you order the hand-tossed crust, and she argues that it tastes better. Also, Dominos is closer to campus and freshmen can use their flex there. In addition, the prices are lower.

Pizza Hut also has its perks, though. Their pizza is more buttery, according to freshman pizza fanatic Andrew Gum, and there are many who argue that it tastes better. Some also claim that Pizza Hut does a better job of cutting their pizzas then Dominos does. Their prices are higher, but they offer deals like the “Big Box Deal,” and their pan pizza is a lot thicker than Domino’s hand-tossed pizza is. Gum also claims that it seems like the pizza is of better quality when he buys it from Pizza Hut

Overall, it can be argued that the two are pretty evenly matched. They both offer a wide selection of products, starting with pizzas and including different types of pastas and chicken. While Pizza Hut has merged with Wing Street to offer wings, Dominos just offers specialty chickens. Both businesses offer pastas, like Chicken Alfredo, and the only difference there is that Dominos offers their pastas in bread bowls. Both also offer online ordering and a delivery service. Again, Dominos is the cheaper option when it comes to both carry-out and delivery.

There are also other pizza places in the area that compete for business from Millikin students along with Dominos and Pizza Hut. Monical’s is a pizza joint that is further away from campus, but they also deliver, and many students like their thin crust pizza dipped in their French dressing. Also, Donnie’s Homespun Pizza is a great place for students to go and eat pizza. Donnie’s is not a pizza chain, so the pizzas are of good quality and there is often live music at Donnie’s. Garcia’s Pizza is also located near Millikin, and they attract students due to their array of video games in the arcade part of the restaurant. Although there are many other options for Millikin students, it seems that Dominos and Pizza Hut are the clear favorites.

Although they are the favorites, it seems that a clear winner cannot be declared. Though there are many on both sides of the spectrum, it appears that a majority of Millikin students would choose to go to Dominos over Pizza Hut just because of the proximity, the difference in cost, and the fact that freshmen can use flex dollars there. There seems to be a 50/50 split on campus when it comes to the better pizza chain debate. There are some people who prefer the taste of Pizza Hut’s pizza, but there are others who like the taste of Dominos better and are fond of the fact that the cost is cheaper.

In conclusion, it depends who you talk to. Freshmen are more likely to be fans of Dominos, but when it comes to upper-classmen, especially those who live off-campus, there is more of a split.
