In the course of our collegiate careers, time has the ability to slip away from us faster than we realize most of the time. For instance, I can think back clearly to the last school year, in which I was a freshman, and now, as the end of the semester looms nearer and nearer, I have the face the fact that I will be a junior in college next year. Furthermore, because of the air of freedom that comes with college, most of us have the tendency to get extremely caught up in our social lives. Not that there is anything wrong with enjoying the freedom and fun of college, but, as time dwindles and dwindles we all have to face the fact that the end of the semester, the busiest time of any semester, is fast approaching, and that we have to get our act together. When this happens, most of us tend to freak out and assume the worse; but, nevertheless, there are several methods that I have took to heart, especially during this busy time of the semester, in order to get my act together.

One way to combat the stress is use every minute available to completing assignments. This has been a major struggle for me this semester, as three days in a row of eight AM classes have enticed me to take more naps than recommended, but, nevertheless, I have gotten my act together. During time between my classes, I take notes, study, or work on assignments, in order to get them done on time and leave enough time to get other assignments done. Utilizing all free time to get work done is the best way to combat a huge workload in order to ensure an ease of mind. Nevertheless, although using time wisely is a huge factor towards student success, free time is extremely important.

Another great step towards keeping your head towards the end of the semester is to take some time out of the day and use it as free time. No matter what you do, whether it be hanging out with friends, going for a walk in Fairview Park, or simply taking a nap, take some time to ease your mind. If you over work yourself too much, it can weigh down on you immensely and ruin your motivation for continuing further. Finally, my last tip towards keeping your head during the end of the semester stems from power within.

Whenever you are writing a paper, completing an assignment, or simply taking notes, never doubt yourself and your abilities. Although school is definitely a struggle sometimes, and we’ve all had our bumps on the road of education throughout the course of our lives, ultimately, you have been successful enough as a student to make it this far in your educational career. As long as you work hard and believe in yourself, you can further increase your ability to succeed during the busiest and worst time of the semester for all of us.
