On Saturday September 16, the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity held their second annual Don’t Stop the Pasta fundraiser. Don’t Stop the Pasta was a great way for the Delta Sigma Phi fraternity to show students that going Greek is about doing great things for the community. This event was open to anyone who wanted to show up. The fraternity held their event in the Woods Clubhouse and kept people posted outside the Woods to let people in and/or out. The event started at 11 AM, but for members of Delta Sigma Phi, the event started as early as 8 AM. A small group of members volunteered to wake up early and cook most of the pasta for the event. Sam Deanne, Emilio Canals, and Alex Johnson all helped to cook Macaroni and Cheese, Alfredo, Fettuccini, Spaghetti, and Mostaccioli.

There was also a gluten free option for people who were allergic to gluten. Without these men the event would not have been able to start when it did, or possibly happen at all, because there would’ve been no pasta for people to enjoy. The one pasta that didn’t stop was the macaroni and cheese, this was the dish that people seemed to enjoy the most, so members of the fraternity had to constantly work to cook more and more macaroni and cheese as the event went on. Members of Delta Sigma Phi brought in more pasta and were constantly making more food for people behind the scenes. This was to insure that there was always food for people to choose from while at the event. People who came to the event had nothing but great things to say about the men who hosted the event and the wonderful pasta made for the event.

At the event there was plenty for people to do. Ben Viette had brought his Nintendo Wii U and set up Super Smash Bros. for Wii U for anyone to play and next to the Woods Clubhouse there is a pool that people were always welcome to use. In case someone got bored of games they could always stop and talk to other people at the event, including members of Delta Sigma Phi, and make new friends.

At around 3:30 people had stopped showing up to the event and sadly the pasta had to stop. While the event had shut down 30 minutes earlier than expected there was still an excellent turn out. Overall the event was wonderful and helped raise a good amount of money towards Delta Sigma Phi’s philanthropy. Don’t Stop the Pasta had managed to raise about $300, with $217 of the money made going towards the American Red Cross. We all are looking forward to next year’s Don’t Stop the Pasta, because it can only get better the more times Delta Sigma Phi hosts this amazing event.
