Album Review

Have you ever heard any music by the band Echosmith? If not, you should listen to some of their music sometime. Lately, I’ve been listening to their album called “Talking Dreams.” Echosmith is an American Indie pop band who formed in February of 2009 out of Toluca Lake, Los Angeles. The really awesome part of this band is that instead of being composed of friends or strangers that decided to work together, they are all siblings. Graham, Sydney, Noah and Jamie Sierota signed to Warner Bros Records in May of 2012.

The band is best known for its hit song “Cool Kids” which reached 31 on the Billboard Hot 100 list. Graham, age 15, plays the drums. Sydney, age 17, is the lead vocalist and she also plays the tambourine and the keyboard. Noah, age 18, plays bass and sings back-up vocals. Lastly, the oldest member of Echosmith Jamie, age 21, sings and plays the guitar.

Echosmiths’ album, Talking Dreams, is best described as a chill album. It has a pop sounds but yet it also feels alternative. Some similar artists to Echosmith are Bad Suns, Dresses, Parade of Lights, and Basic Vacation. My favorite song by Echosmith would have to be Cool Kids. In my opinion it’s a great song, but beware because it’s also super catchy. The rest of the album is just as well composed as my favorite song, so just go listen to it and enjoy the laid back, pop-esque, compositions of Echosmith.
